A need resulting directly from an identifiable, sudden, and unexpected event. The inability to provide for the basic necessities of life such as food, clothing, housing, furniture and other items of basis sustenance. An unusual and uninsured medical expense caused by severe illness or accident. A need for supplemental assistance by an aged or handicapped individual with insufficient income to maintain a minimum standard of living.
