About this grant
The $1 million Broadband Satellite Resiliency Grant program, administered by the N.C. Department of Information Technology's Division of Broadband and Digital Opportunity, awards funds to eligible public and community-focused entities in North Carolina to purchase satellite internet equipment and related installation materials for their own use. Funds cover the foundational product, cybersecurity components, and maintenance infrastructure in a portable 'resilience in a box' package, but not internet service subscriptions. NCDIT prioritizes applicants in the 39 North Carolina counties designated within the Hurricane Helene federal disaster area.
Eligibility details
- Notes: Eligible applicants are public and community-focused entities operating within North Carolina: state agencies; local government units (counties, cities, towns, and municipalities); volunteer fire departments; and Community Anchor Institutions. Applications are open statewide, but NCDIT strictly prioritizes applicants operating within the 39 North Carolina counties designated inside the Hurricane Helene federal disaster area, and further prioritizes entities in those zones that directly provide emergency services, disaster relief, educational services, or local economic development. Each entity must submit its own application; group applications are not allowed. Equipment must be for the grantee's own use and not for distribution; internet service subscriptions are not covered.
