About this grant

The Texas Historical Commission's Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants provide funding to participating city and county governments to develop and sustain effective local historic preservation programs. Eligible activities include architectural, historical, and archeological surveys, National Register nominations, local preservation plans, preservation ordinances, design guidelines, incentive programs, and preservation-related training. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $45,000 and require a one-to-one local match.

Eligibility details

  • Notes: Cities and county governments that have been individually certified by the National Park Service as CLGs and are in good standing with the CLG Program are eligible to apply. Multiple CLGs may partner together, and CLGs may sponsor a third-party organization (such as another unit of local government, a commercial firm, a non-profit entity, or educational institution) and delegate administration of a grant project to that organization.
