About this grant
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources provides grants to local governments for stream restoration projects that are cost-shared with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service's Environmental Quality Incentives Program (NRCS-EQIP). The state can fund up to 100% of the estimated non-federal cost, effectively a 1:1 match to the federal cost estimate. Applications are accepted in annual spring cycles, with the current cycle extended to July 31, 2026, and the next cycle opening January 1, 2027.
Eligibility details
- Notes: Eligible applicants are units of local government and local political subdivisions. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may only apply as co-applicants partnering with a local government. Projects must be stream restoration projects approved for NRCS-EQIP funding by the USDA along a contiguous stretch of stream. Applicants cannot also receive funding from the North Carolina Land and Water Fund for the same project.
