About this grant
The Terra Foundation Exhibition Grants support museums, art centers, and community-based cultural organizations in planning and implementing temporary loan exhibitions of American art. Grants typically range from $25,000 to $200,000 and may cover planning, interpretation, shipping, artist fees, conservation, programs, and marketing. Applications are accepted once yearly through a two-stage inquiry and proposal process.
Eligibility details
- Notes: Applicants must hold US 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or its international equivalent; grants are not made to individuals. Only project organizers may apply; co-organizers are encouraged to apply jointly, otherwise only one inquiry per project is accepted. US-based fiscally sponsored projects are welcome. Institutions that received an Exhibition Grant may not apply two consecutive years. Not funded: creation/acquisition of artwork, capital expenditures, permanent equipment, exclusively online projects, touring of previously opened projects, and previously declined inquiries/proposals.
