About this grant
The Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance and administered in Virginia by DCJS, provides sub-grants to Virginia localities for law enforcement, prosecution and courts, prevention and education, corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, planning and evaluation, and technology improvements. Funds are subawarded both competitively and by formula to eligible Virginia units of local government. DCJS publishes specific solicitations with funding priorities and match requirements.
Eligibility details
- Notes: Funding is typically open to all Virginia units of local government. For JAG purposes, a 'unit of local government' is a city, county, township, town, or certain federally recognized American Indian tribes. A local cash match is required for Byrne/JAG grants made to localities.
