NJBUILD Women and Minorities in Construction Trades Program - Fiscal Year 2027 - Round 1

About this grant

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development's NJBUILD Women and Minorities in Construction Trades Program (WMIC) funds pre-apprenticeship and pre-employment training that connects minority group members and women to careers in the building and construction trades, including clean energy and lead abatement occupations. Grantees must partner with Registered Apprenticeship sponsors or construction employers and provide occupational skills training, work-based learning, supportive services, and job placement assistance. A total of $2,000,000 is available for FY2027 Round 1.

Eligibility details

• Notes: Eligible entities/applicants are described in Section F of the Notice of Grant Opportunity (page 10 of the PDF). The program targets female and minority residents of New Jersey and requires documented partnerships with at least one Registered Apprenticeship sponsor or construction employer. Applicants must provide a plan addressing employer engagement, training hours (30 hours workforce readiness, 120 hours occupation-specific training, 15 hours job shadowing), credential attainment, and job placement at $17/hour or more.
