About this grant

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality offers Lead Service Line Replacement funding through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, supported by the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Funds help eligible water systems inventory and fully remove lead service lines and connectors, with 49% of national funds provided as principal forgiveness loans (like grants) to disadvantaged communities and 51% as low-interest loans. Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis and awarded at four State Water Infrastructure Authority meetings each year.
